Description

Belgian Waffles are thick, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, making them the perfect breakfast or brunch treat.

Ingredients

2 Cups Flour

1 Tbsp Baking Powder

1/2 tsp Salt

2 Tbsp Sugar

2 Eggs, separated

1/3 Cup Oil

2 Cups Milk

1 tsp Vanilla Essence

Instructions

  1. Start by sieving the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar) into a large mixing bowl. Use a whisk to combine them evenly.
  2. Separate the eggs. Add the yolks to the dry ingredients and place the whites into a separate, clean bowl.
  3. Pour the oil, milk, and vanilla essence into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Whisk everything together until the batter is smooth and there are no dry spots of flour.
  4. Whip the egg whites using a hand mixer or a whisk until they form stiff peaks.
  5. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the batter, mixing until well combined.
  6. Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with oil or melted butter.
  7. Pour around 3/4 cup of the batter into the waffle iron and cook for 5-10 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve the waffles immediately with fresh berries, whipped cream, and maple syrup.

Notes

  • For a sweeter taste, substitute sugar with honey, maple syrup, or other sweeteners.
  • To make extra crispy waffles, place them on a cooling rack in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for a few minutes before serving.
  • If you don’t have a waffle iron, use a skillet or griddle, though the texture will be more like pancakes.
  • For vegan waffles, replace the eggs with flaxseed or chia seed mixture and use plant-based milk and oil.
  • Feel free to add mix-ins like chocolate chips or fruit to the batter before cooking for a fun twist.
