Description
Black Pepper Beef Stir-Fry is a quick and hearty meal featuring tender beef slices and colorful vegetables tossed in a bold, peppery sauce with savory and slightly sweet flavors.
Ingredients
300 gr beef sirloin, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
1 carrot, thinly sliced
1/2 onion, roughly chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 stalk green onion, cut into pieces
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp sweet soy sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
1 tsp sugar
Salt to taste
100 ml water
Cooking oil for stir-frying
1 tsp oil (for marinating)
Instructions
- Marinate the beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp oil, and a pinch of black pepper. Let sit for 15 minutes.
- Prepare the vegetables by slicing the bell peppers, carrot, and green onion, and chopping the onion and garlic.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat and sauté garlic and onion for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add marinated beef and stir-fry until it begins to brown and is halfway cooked.
- Add bell peppers, carrot, and green onion to the pan and mix well.
- Pour in oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce, remaining soy sauce, black pepper, sugar, salt, and water. Cook until beef is fully cooked and sauce thickens slightly.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot with steamed rice.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute beef with tofu or tempeh.
Add red chilies or chili oil for extra heat.
Use broccoli, snap peas, or mushrooms as alternative vegetables.
Use tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
Add cornstarch slurry for a thicker sauce.
