Description
Cajun Alfredo Sauce is a smoky, rich, and creamy sauce with a zesty lemon kick, perfect for drizzling over pasta, grilled seafood, or roasted vegetables. This bold sauce adds excitement and flavor to any meal.
Ingredients
½ cup unsalted butter
1 ½ cups heavy cream
2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (homemade or store-bought*)
½ teaspoon kosher salt (omit if your seasoning blend contains salt)
1¾ cups freshly grated parmesan cheese
1 lemon (zest only)
Homemade Cajun Seasoning:
3 tablespoons smoked paprika
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon ground white pepper
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon dried basil
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over low heat. Let it melt until it starts to froth with white bubbles on top.
- Stir in the heavy cream and Cajun seasoning. Add salt if necessary. Allow the mixture to simmer on low for 5 to 6 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the lemon zest. Gradually add the grated parmesan cheese and stir until the cheese melts completely, forming a smooth sauce. Adjust salt to taste.
- Toss the sauce with your cooked pasta or serve as desired.
Notes
- For homemade Cajun seasoning, adjust the cayenne pepper to your preferred spice level.
- If you prefer a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, but note it won’t be as rich.
- If you like more heat, increase the cayenne pepper in the Cajun seasoning mix.
- This sauce is versatile and can be served over pasta, chicken, shrimp, or vegetables.
- For thicker sauce, simmer it longer or add more parmesan cheese.
