Description

Cajun Alfredo Sauce is a smoky, rich, and creamy sauce with a zesty lemon kick, perfect for drizzling over pasta, grilled seafood, or roasted vegetables. This bold sauce adds excitement and flavor to any meal.

Ingredients

½ cup unsalted butter

1 ½ cups heavy cream

2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (homemade or store-bought*)

½ teaspoon kosher salt (omit if your seasoning blend contains salt)

1¾ cups freshly grated parmesan cheese

1 lemon (zest only)

Homemade Cajun Seasoning:

3 tablespoons smoked paprika

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon garlic powder

2 teaspoons kosher salt

1 teaspoon ground white pepper

1 teaspoon ground mustard

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

½ teaspoon dried basil

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over low heat. Let it melt until it starts to froth with white bubbles on top.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream and Cajun seasoning. Add salt if necessary. Allow the mixture to simmer on low for 5 to 6 minutes.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the lemon zest. Gradually add the grated parmesan cheese and stir until the cheese melts completely, forming a smooth sauce. Adjust salt to taste.
  4. Toss the sauce with your cooked pasta or serve as desired.

Notes

  • For homemade Cajun seasoning, adjust the cayenne pepper to your preferred spice level.
  • If you prefer a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, but note it won’t be as rich.
  • If you like more heat, increase the cayenne pepper in the Cajun seasoning mix.
  • This sauce is versatile and can be served over pasta, chicken, shrimp, or vegetables.
  • For thicker sauce, simmer it longer or add more parmesan cheese.
