Ingredients
For the Brownie Layer:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
For the Cookie Layer:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Prepare the Brownie Layer:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla, whisking until smooth. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until combined. Spread the brownie batter evenly in a greased 9×9-inch pan. - Prepare the Cookie Layer:
In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt, then fold in the chocolate chips. - Layer the Cookie Dough:
Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough on top of the brownie layer, gently spreading it out to cover the surface. Don’t worry if it’s uneven! - Bake:
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool before slicing into squares.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add more chocolate chips or even swirl in some caramel sauce.
- Let the brownies cool completely for cleaner slices.
