Description

This Cinnamon Donut Bread is a warm, sweet, and aromatic treat that combines the flavors of cinnamon and sugar with soft, fluffy bread. It’s a less messy alternative to cinnamon donuts, perfect for breakfast, dessert, or as a snack. Easy to make and customizable, this bread will fill your kitchen with the inviting scent of a donut shop.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup buttermilk

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ cup granulated sugar (for topping)

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal after baking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar for the topping, then sprinkle it evenly over the batter.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Wrap the bread tightly in plastic wrap and foil to freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
  • If you prefer a dairy-free version, substitute the butter with dairy-free margarine or coconut oil and use plant-based milk such as almond or oat milk.
  • Feel free to add nuts, chocolate chips, or even a glaze for extra flavor!
