Ingredients

For the Cinnamon Filling:

3 tbsp butter, softened (plus more for cooking)

¼ cup light brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

For the Roll-Ups:

12 slices white bread (soft sandwich bread, brioche, or challah)

2 eggs

3 tbsp milk

3 tbsp granulated sugar

1 tsp cinnamon (for coating)

Optional Toppings:

Powdered sugar (for serving)

Maple syrup

Cream cheese glaze

Instructions

Step 1: Flatten the Bread

  1. Use a rolling pin or your hands to flatten each slice of bread.

Step 2: Make the Cinnamon Filling

  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until fully combined.

Step 3: Spread the Filling

  1. Spread a thin layer of the cinnamon filling onto each slice of bread.

Step 4: Roll Them Up

  1. Roll each slice of bread tightly into a log and set aside.

Step 5: Prepare the Egg Mixture

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk to create the French toast batter.

Step 6: Cook the Roll-Ups

  1. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and melt a little butter.

  2. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, making sure it’s fully coated but not soggy.

  3. Place the roll-ups in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, turning often, until golden brown and crispy.

Step 7: Coat in Cinnamon Sugar

  1. While the roll-ups are still warm, roll them in a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon for a sweet finish.

Step 8: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, or dip in cream cheese glaze for an extra indulgent touch.

Notes

  • Fruit-filled Variation: Add fresh banana slices or berries inside the roll-ups before rolling them for a fruity twist.
  • Nutty Variation: Sprinkle chopped nuts, such as pecans or walnuts, in the cinnamon filling for extra crunch.
