Description

Cinnamon-sugar air fryer banana chips are a healthier, crunchy alternative to traditional fried snacks. Made with just a few simple ingredients—ripe bananas, coconut oil or butter, and a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar—they offer a sweet and satisfying treat with minimal oil.

Ingredients

2 ripe but firm bananas

1 tablespoon coconut oil or melted butter

1 tablespoon granulated sugar or coconut sugar

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Peel the bananas and slice them into thin rounds, about ⅛ inch thick.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar together. In another bowl, toss the banana slices with the melted coconut oil or butter until fully coated. Then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the banana slices and toss gently to coat evenly.
  4. Place the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  5. Air fry the banana slices for 10–15 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
  6. Once golden and crispy, remove the banana chips from the air fryer and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.

Notes

  • For a spiced flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or pumpkin spice to the cinnamon-sugar mix.
  • For a savory twist, skip the sugar and sprinkle with sea salt and paprika.
  • Drizzle melted dark chocolate over the chips for a rich treat.
  • Toss the banana slices with crushed nuts like almonds or walnuts for added crunch.
  • For a sugar-free version, use a sugar substitute like stevia or monk fruit.
