Description
Cinnamon-sugar air fryer banana chips are a healthier, crunchy alternative to traditional fried snacks. Made with just a few simple ingredients—ripe bananas, coconut oil or butter, and a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar—they offer a sweet and satisfying treat with minimal oil.
Ingredients
2 ripe but firm bananas
1 tablespoon coconut oil or melted butter
1 tablespoon granulated sugar or coconut sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Peel the bananas and slice them into thin rounds, about ⅛ inch thick.
- In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar together. In another bowl, toss the banana slices with the melted coconut oil or butter until fully coated. Then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the banana slices and toss gently to coat evenly.
- Place the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Air fry the banana slices for 10–15 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
- Once golden and crispy, remove the banana chips from the air fryer and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
Notes
- For a spiced flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or pumpkin spice to the cinnamon-sugar mix.
- For a savory twist, skip the sugar and sprinkle with sea salt and paprika.
- Drizzle melted dark chocolate over the chips for a rich treat.
- Toss the banana slices with crushed nuts like almonds or walnuts for added crunch.
- For a sugar-free version, use a sugar substitute like stevia or monk fruit.
