Description
Key lime pie is a refreshing and creamy dessert that combines tangy lime flavor with sweetened condensed milk, all in a crisp graham cracker crust. This easy-to-make recipe requires minimal ingredients and is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
3 cups sweetened condensed milk
¾ cup key lime juice
½ cup sour cream
1 tablespoon grated lime zest
1 (9-inch) prepared graham cracker crust
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, sour cream, and lime zest. Stir well until smooth.
- Pour the filling into the prepared graham cracker crust.
- Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 5 to 8 minutes, or until tiny bubbles appear and pop on the surface of the pie. The filling should remain wobbly but should not brown.
- Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool on a wire rack. Once cooled, transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for about 1 hour.
- Garnish with whipped cream and lime slices if desired. Serve chilled.
Notes
- For a lemon twist, substitute key lime juice with fresh lemon juice.
- Add toasted shredded coconut to the graham cracker crust for extra flavor.
- Make mini key lime pies using tart pans or muffin tins, reducing the baking time.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
