Description

These Cotton Candy Cookies are soft, fluffy treats infused with nostalgic cotton candy flavor. With a tender, cakey texture and whimsical appearance, they’re perfect for parties, snacks, or a sweet surprise any day.

Ingredients

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

¾ cup unsalted butter, softened

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

2 tsp cotton candy flavoring (or extract)

Optional: food coloring

Optional: sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
  4. Add egg and cotton candy flavoring (and food coloring, if using) and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just combined—do not overmix.
  6. Fold in sprinkles, if desired.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them out.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers remain soft.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Use pastel food coloring to enhance the fun, carnival vibe.
  • Substitute cotton candy flavoring with vanilla or almond extract for a variation.
  • Make cookie sandwiches by adding frosting or jam between two cookies.
  • Swap sprinkles with chocolate chips, white chocolate, or chopped nuts.
  • Chill dough overnight to intensify flavors and prevent spreading.
