Description

A delightful dessert combining a light, airy cake base with a rich, creamy filling, perfect for special occasions or family gatherings.

Ingredients

1 cup water

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup butter

1 cup flour

4 large eggs

Whipped cream or custard for filling (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil over medium-high heat. Add the salt and butter, stirring until the butter is completely melted.
  2. Once the butter is melted, stir in the flour and mix well until the dough begins to form and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl and allow it to cool for about 5 minutes.
  4. After the dough has cooled slightly, add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. The dough should become smooth and glossy.
  5. Pour the dough into a greased baking pan, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Bake the cake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 to 40 minutes or until the cake is golden and puffed up.
  7. Once the cake has cooled, slice it in half horizontally and fill the inside with whipped cream or custard, depending on your preference.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • This cake can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator. Fill it with cream right before serving for maximum freshness.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute butter with margarine, but butter is recommended for the best taste.
  • The cake can be frozen without the filling. Wrap it tightly and freeze for up to 1 month. Thaw before filling and serving.
  • If you want a unique twist, add flavorings like vanilla or almond extract to the filling.
  • For a simple topping, drizzle some melted chocolate or dust with powdered sugar.
