Description

Crispy Air Fryer Apple Fries are a fun and healthier twist on traditional fries. Coated in a warm, spiced mixture and air-fried to crispy perfection, these apple fries are a delightful snack or dessert that’s sweet, crispy, and irresistible.

Ingredients

2 Granny Smith apples

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

½ teaspoon ground cloves

Spray cooking oil

Instructions

  1. In a large resealable bag, combine the flour, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Seal the bag and shake well until evenly mixed.
  2. Peel the apples and slice them into ½-inch wedges, discarding the core. Cut the wedges into fry-like strips.
  3. Place the apple strips into the bag of dry mixture. Seal the bag and shake until all pieces are well coated.
  4. Arrange the coated apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd them. Lightly spritz with cooking oil.
  5. Set the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and cook for 5 minutes. Open the air fryer, flip the apple fries, and spritz with more oil if needed. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  6. Carefully remove the apple fries and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!

Notes

  • Granny Smith apples provide a tart flavor that contrasts nicely with the sweet coating, but you can use sweeter varieties like Fuji or Honeycrisp for a different flavor profile.
  • For extra sweetness, sprinkle more powdered sugar on top of the apple fries after cooking.
  • These fries can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes for crispiness.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Serve with caramel sauce, vanilla yogurt, or chocolate dip for a richer experience.
