Description

The Crispy Chicken Caesar Sandwich is a satisfying meal that combines crispy, flavorful chicken, creamy Caesar dressing, fresh lettuce, and Parmesan cheese, all nestled in a soft French baguette. This sandwich is perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Caesar Dressing:

1/2 cup full-fat mayonnaise

3 tablespoons Greek yogurt

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

12 garlic cloves, minced

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Pinch sea salt

Chicken:

5 chicken cutlets

Sea salt to taste

Ground black pepper to taste

Oil for frying

Flour Mixture:

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

Egg Mixture:

2 eggs

1/4 teaspoon salt

Breadcrumbs Mixture:

3/4 cup panko crumbs

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Assembly:

2 romaine hearts, chopped

12 French baguettes

Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, Parmesan cheese, garlic, black pepper, and salt to make the Caesar dressing. Stir well and set aside.
  2. Season the chicken cutlets with sea salt and black pepper. In one shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, and smoked paprika. In another dish, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt. In a third dish, mix the panko crumbs, breadcrumbs, dried parsley, pepper, salt, oregano, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese.
  3. Dredge each chicken cutlet in the flour mixture, dip in the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly with the breadcrumbs mixture. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the chicken cutlets until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Slice the French baguette into individual sandwich portions. Spread the prepared Caesar dressing on both sides of each baguette. Add a layer of crispy chicken, top with chopped romaine lettuce, and sprinkle with more freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Serve immediately for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, bake the chicken cutlets at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the breadcrumbs and flour with gluten-free alternatives.
  • To prevent soggy bread, toast the baguette before assembling the sandwich.
