Description
Easy Boston Cream Pie Trifle is a no-bake dessert that layers soft cake, creamy vanilla pudding, whipped topping, and rich chocolate ganache to create a dessert that’s visually stunning and irresistibly delicious.
Ingredients
1 box yellow cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
2 (3.4 oz) boxes instant French vanilla pudding mix
4 cups milk
16 oz Cool Whip, divided
8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup heavy cream
1 tsp instant coffee (not coffee grounds)
Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Make the crust and custard layers: Bake the yellow cake as directed on the box. Let it cool, then cut into bite-sized squares. Whisk vanilla pudding mix with milk until smooth and thickened, then fold in ½ cup of Cool Whip and spread over the cooled cake.
- Make the ganache: In a double boiler, melt chocolate chips with heavy cream and instant coffee until smooth. Let it cool for a few minutes, then pour over the custard layer.
- Layer the trifle: In a trifle bowl, layer 1/3 of the cake squares, followed by pudding and ganache. Repeat the layers until all components are used up. Top with the remaining Cool Whip.
- Chill and serve: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set, then serve chilled in individual bowls.
Notes
- Add fresh fruit like strawberries or raspberries for a fruity twist.
- Use chocolate cake mix for a richer flavor or try a different pudding flavor.
- For extra texture, sprinkle chopped nuts like almonds or pecans on top.
