Description

These Easy Minced Beef Samosas combine a crunchy exterior with a savory, spiced minced beef filling. Wrapped in flour tortillas for ease, these samosas are perfect as a snack, appetizer, or party treat.

Ingredients

  • 8 Uncooked flour tortillas
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (mix with water to make a thick paste)
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 lb Minced beef or chicken
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Neutral oil
  • 1/2 cup Fresh cilantro or Dhania
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 3/4 tsp Salt (or to taste)
  • 3/4 tsp Red chili powder (or to taste)
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and add minced beef (or chicken), ginger paste, and garlic paste. Cook the minced meat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until it changes color. Add all the spices and continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes.
  2. Add the peas: Stir in the frozen peas and cook for about 6-7 minutes. Once cooked, remove the lid and allow any excess water to evaporate. Then, add lemon juice and fresh cilantro. Let the filling cool completely.
  3. Fill the samosas: Cut the flour tortillas in half. Mix 1 tbsp of flour with water to make a paste. Use this paste to seal the samosas. Apply it to one edge of the tortilla half, fold it into a cone shape, and fill with about 1 tbsp of the cooled filling. Pinch the edges to seal.
  4. Fry the samosas: Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the samosas in the oil and fry until golden and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve with green chutney or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, replace the minced beef with mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, or lentils.
  • For added spice, increase red chili powder or add chopped green chilies to the filling.
  • Store uncooked samosas in the freezer for up to 1 month. Fry from frozen when ready to serve.
