Description

Grandma’s Fluffy Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins are a delicious hybrid of soft, fluffy muffins and the sweet, comforting flavor of cinnamon sugar. These easy-to-make muffins provide the taste of a warm donut without the frying, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack.

Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

¾ cup milk

¼ cup melted butter

2 eggs

¼ cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar coating)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease it.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the wet ingredients—milk, melted butter, and eggs—until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about ¾ of the way full.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. While the muffins are baking, prepare the cinnamon sugar coating by mixing ¼ cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
  8. Once the muffins are baked and slightly cooled (about 5 minutes), brush them with melted butter, then roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a sweeter touch, drizzle a glaze made of powdered sugar and milk on top of the muffins after rolling them in cinnamon sugar.
  • Consider adding diced apples, chocolate chips, or extra spices like nutmeg or cloves to customize the flavor.
  • Store leftover muffins in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
  • To reheat, microwave for 10-15 seconds or warm in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for 5 minutes.
