Description

Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches are a delicious fusion of crispy, golden-brown bread filled with creamy cheesecake mixture, fresh strawberries, and strawberry jam. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a sweet indulgent snack, these sandwiches are a treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

8 slices of brioche or challah bread

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 tbsp powdered sugar (plus more for dusting)

1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

1/4 cup strawberry jam

2 large eggs

3 tbsp milk

2 tbsp butter (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto one side of four bread slices.
  3. Add sliced strawberries and a spoonful of strawberry jam on top of the cream cheese layer. Cover with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
  4. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  5. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated.
  6. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the skillet and let drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a crunchy twist, add chopped nuts like almonds or pecans to the cream cheese filling for added texture.
  • Experiment with different types of jam such as raspberry or apricot for a unique flavor.
  • Swap out fresh strawberries for other fruits like blueberries or sliced bananas for a different fruity touch.
  • If you don’t want to fry, lightly toast the sandwiches in a pan or use a grill pan to achieve a crispy texture without the extra oil.
  • To make these sandwiches vegan, use dairy-free cream cheese, plant-based bread, and a flax egg mixture instead of the eggs.
