Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil
Seeds or herbs (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.
- Pour in the warm water and olive oil. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until a sticky dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about one minute to bring it together. Shape it into a round loaf or divide it into smaller rolls.
- Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If desired, sprinkle seeds or herbs on top for added flavor.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. Slice and serve warm with your favorite spreads or dips.
Notes
- Add Herbs: Incorporate dried herbs such as rosemary, thyme, or oregano into the dough for extra flavor.
- Cheese Bread: Add shredded cheese to the dough for a cheesy twist.
- Seeds: Top the bread with sunflower, sesame, or pumpkin seeds before baking for a nutty flavor and added crunch.
