Description

Grilled Tahini Chicken combines smoky grilled chicken thighs with a creamy, tangy tahini sauce, creating a dish that’s both flavorful and easy to prepare. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or impressing guests at your next gathering.


Ingredients

1/2 cup well-stirred tahini

3 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 teaspoons lemon zest

2 cloves garlic, grated

1 tablespoon za’atar

1/2 tablespoon smoked paprika

34 tablespoons water

8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs


Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill (or broiler). Lightly oil the grates on the grill.
  2. In a bowl, combine tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, za’atar, smoked paprika, and water. Whisk well, adding water one tablespoon at a time until the sauce reaches a pourable consistency.
  3. Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Spoon some tahini sauce over both sides of the chicken, reserving half of the sauce for later.
  4. Grill the chicken for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip. Baste the flipped side with some of the remaining sauce and grill for another 4-5 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
  5. Serve the chicken warm, at room temperature, or cold, with an additional drizzle of the tahini sauce.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, replace the chicken with tofu or portobello mushrooms and grill as you would the chicken.
  • If you like heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or drizzle hot sauce in the tahini sauce.
