Description

Ground Beef Stroganoff is a creamy, comforting dish made with tender ground beef, a rich sauce, and perfectly cooked egg noodles. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s a quick and satisfying meal for busy weeknights, and a budget-friendly twist on the classic.

Ingredients

6 ounces Egg Noodles

1 pound Ground Beef

1/4 cup Butter

1/4 cup Flour

1 cup Beef Broth

1 1/4 cups Milk

1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder

1 teaspoon Pepper

1 teaspoon Salt

1/4 cup Sour Cream

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of water to boil and cook noodles according to the package directions. Once cooked, set aside for later.
  2. While the noodles are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and no longer pink (about 6-8 minutes). Drain excess fat and transfer beef to a plate. Set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for 2 minutes to create a roux.
  4. Gradually pour in the beef broth, whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Slowly add the milk, whisking and stirring until the sauce thickens again, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  7. Reduce the heat to low. Add the cooked noodles and browned ground beef, stirring to combine and heat through.
  8. Stir in sour cream until fully incorporated. Serve hot with your choice of vegetable or garlic toast.

Notes

Vegetarian version: Swap ground beef with a plant-based substitute like tofu or lentils.

Spicy version: Add cayenne pepper or chili flakes for extra heat.

Cheesy version: Stir in grated cheese for a cheesy twist.

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.

Reheating: Microwave or reheat on the stovetop, adding a splash of milk or beef broth to bring back the creamy texture.
