Description

These Healthy Hashbrown Chaffles are crispy and delicious, made quickly with a waffle iron. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack, they offer a hassle-free way to enjoy crispy hashbrowns without the greasy stovetop mess.

Ingredients

4 cups grated hashbrowns (frozen or freshly grated)

1/4 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or any melting cheese)

1 teaspoon flavored salt (or regular salt, plus garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron on medium-high heat to ensure crispy chaffles.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the grated hashbrowns, grated cheese, and flavored salt. Mix well to evenly distribute the cheese and seasoning.
  3. Lightly spray or brush your waffle iron with pan release to prevent sticking.
  4. Place about 1/2 cup of the hashbrown mixture onto the waffle iron. Close the waffle iron and cook for 5-8 minutes, or until the chaffles are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Once ready, serve immediately for the best texture. Optionally top with a fried egg, avocado, or sausage for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding ranch powder, Italian herbs, or smoked paprika to the hashbrown mixture.
  • If using fresh potatoes, grate them and squeeze out excess moisture with a clean towel for best results.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, and freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Reheat in a toaster or air fryer to restore crispiness.
  • For a spicy twist, use pepper jack cheese or add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes.
