Description
These Healthy Hashbrown Chaffles are crispy and delicious, made quickly with a waffle iron. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack, they offer a hassle-free way to enjoy crispy hashbrowns without the greasy stovetop mess.
Ingredients
4 cups grated hashbrowns (frozen or freshly grated)
1/4 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or any melting cheese)
1 teaspoon flavored salt (or regular salt, plus garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika)
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron on medium-high heat to ensure crispy chaffles.
- In a large bowl, combine the grated hashbrowns, grated cheese, and flavored salt. Mix well to evenly distribute the cheese and seasoning.
- Lightly spray or brush your waffle iron with pan release to prevent sticking.
- Place about 1/2 cup of the hashbrown mixture onto the waffle iron. Close the waffle iron and cook for 5-8 minutes, or until the chaffles are golden brown and crispy.
- Once ready, serve immediately for the best texture. Optionally top with a fried egg, avocado, or sausage for a complete meal.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding ranch powder, Italian herbs, or smoked paprika to the hashbrown mixture.
- If using fresh potatoes, grate them and squeeze out excess moisture with a clean towel for best results.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, and freeze for up to 2 months.
- Reheat in a toaster or air fryer to restore crispiness.
- For a spicy twist, use pepper jack cheese or add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes.
