1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Pinch of salt
2 tablespoons cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the blueberries, water, sugar, lemon juice, and salt. Stir occasionally and bring to a simmer.
- Once the mixture starts to simmer, add the cornstarch paste. Stir gently until well combined.
- Continue cooking for about 5–7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- The sauce can be served warm, at room temperature, or chilled.
Notes
- Double or triple the ingredients to make a larger batch of blueberry sauce.
- Add spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for extra depth of flavor.
- Frozen blueberries can be used in place of fresh, just don’t defrost them before cooking.
