Description

Hot Honey Feta Chicken is an irresistible dish that blends fiery hot honey, tangy feta, and juicy chicken for a flavorful, luxurious yet easy meal.

Ingredients

  • lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 12 teaspoons chili flakes (adjust to spice preference)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, finely minced
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • Fresh parsley or mint, chopped
  • Lemon zest or juice
  • Toasted sesame seeds or crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry and place in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, then rub in paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for 10–15 minutes or up to 1 hour in the fridge.
  2. To sear: Heat a skillet over medium-high, add oil, and sear chicken for 5–6 minutes per side (thighs) or 4–5 minutes (breasts) until golden and cooked through. To bake: Preheat oven to 400°F, place chicken in a baking dish, drizzle with oil, and bake for 20–25 minutes until internal temp reaches 165°F.
  3. Make the hot honey sauce: In a small saucepan, combine honey, chili flakes, butter or oil, garlic, and vinegar. Heat gently until fragrant. Adjust spice level to taste with cayenne pepper if using.
  4. Pour the hot honey sauce over the cooked chicken and top with crumbled feta. Let sit a few minutes for the feta to soften.
  5. Garnish with chopped herbs, lemon zest or juice, and optional sesame seeds or chili flakes. Serve with rice, potatoes, or flatbreads.

Notes

  • Marinating longer enhances flavor.
  • Use goat cheese for a creamier variation.
  • Adjust chili flakes or use hot sauce to control spice.
  • Dairy-free version: omit feta or use dairy-free cheese.
  • Leftover sauce pairs well with veggies or grains.
