Description
These juicy campfire banana splits are the ultimate camping dessert! Made by grilling bananas stuffed with chocolate chips and marshmallows, they’re quick, gooey, and absolutely delicious. Perfect for family camping trips, these treats are easy to prepare and enjoy under the stars.
Ingredients
6 large bananas, with peels on and stems cut off
2 cups chocolate chips, semisweet variety
1 package mini marshmallows (10.5 ounces)
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to high heat and spray four sheets of aluminum foil with cooking spray.
- Slice each banana lengthwise from stem to bottom, creating a pocket for the fillings. Alternatively, slice the banana into smaller pieces for easier handling while keeping the peel intact.
- Stuff each banana with chocolate chips and mini marshmallows, ensuring an even distribution for that gooey, melty bite.
- Wrap each stuffed banana tightly in foil and place it on the preheated grill or directly into the coals of the campfire. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the chocolate chips and marshmallows are melted.
- Carefully unwrap the foil (the bananas will be hot!) and open the peel to reveal the melted chocolate and marshmallow goodness. Scoop out and serve immediately!
Notes
- For extra toppings, consider adding crushed graham crackers, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or crushed candy bars for more texture and flavor.
- Experiment with different types of chocolate chips (milk, dark, or white chocolate) or peanut butter chips for variety.
- If desired, top with vanilla ice cream for an indulgent twist.
- For prep, pack bananas whole, chocolate chips in a sealed bag, and marshmallows in a zip-top bag for easy assembly at the campsite.
