Description

Louisiana Voodoo Fries are crispy, golden fries topped with a rich combination of bold spices, savory cheese, spicy ranch, and fresh toppings. A celebration of Louisiana’s culinary heritage, these fries are perfect for parties, casual get-togethers, or whenever you crave something flavorful.

Ingredients

4 large russet potatoes

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup sour cream

¼ cup sliced green onions

¼ cup spicy ranch dressing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to create fries.
  3. Toss the cut potatoes with vegetable oil, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl until well-coated.
  4. Spread the seasoned fries on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden and crispy.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the fries and return them to the oven for another 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
  7. While the fries bake, slice the green onions.
  8. Once the cheese is melted, remove the fries from the oven. Drizzle with sour cream and top with green onions and spicy ranch dressing.
  9. Serve immediately while the fries are still hot and crispy. Garnish with any extra seasonings you like.

Notes

  • Vegetarian option:  add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers for a colorful alternative.
  • BBQ style: Top with barbecue sauce and grilled chicken for a Southern BBQ twist.
  • For an extra flavor boost, combine minced garlic with the shredded cheese before sprinkling over the fries.
  • For a Southwestern version, add black beans, corn, and avocado on top.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven to restore crispiness.
