Ingredients
4 large russet potatoes
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup sour cream
¼ cup sliced green onions
¼ cup spicy ranch dressing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to create fries.
- Toss the cut potatoes with vegetable oil, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl until well-coated.
- Spread the seasoned fries on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden and crispy.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the fries and return them to the oven for another 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
- While the fries bake, slice the green onions.
- Once the cheese is melted, remove the fries from the oven. Drizzle with sour cream and top with green onions and spicy ranch dressing.
- Serve immediately while the fries are still hot and crispy. Garnish with any extra seasonings you like.
Notes
- Vegetarian option: add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers for a colorful alternative.
- BBQ style: Top with barbecue sauce and grilled chicken for a Southern BBQ twist.
- For an extra flavor boost, combine minced garlic with the shredded cheese before sprinkling over the fries.
- For a Southwestern version, add black beans, corn, and avocado on top.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven to restore crispiness.
