Description
Supreme Strawberry Topping is a simple, flavorful topping that turns any dessert into a special treat. Made with fresh strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla, it’s quick to prepare and perfect for pancakes, cheesecakes, yogurt, or smoothies.
Ingredients
1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)
Instructions
- Combine the strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan. Stir to mix everything together.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juices and soften.
- If you want a thicker topping, dissolve the cornstarch in a small amount of cold water and stir it into the saucepan. Cook for another 2 minutes until it thickens.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the topping cool before serving.
Notes
- Add a splash of balsamic vinegar for a deeper flavor or swap white sugar with honey or maple syrup for a different sweetness.
- Mix in other berries like blueberries or raspberries for a more complex topping.
- This topping stays fresh for 3–4 days in the refrigerator or can be frozen for longer storage (though the texture may change slightly when thawed).
- To reheat, warm gently over low heat until it reaches the desired consistency.
