Description

Recreate Taco Bell’s famous Nacho Fries at home with this easy and delicious recipe. Crispy, golden fries are seasoned with a flavorful blend of spices and served with a rich, creamy cheese sauce for the ultimate snack or side dish. Perfect for sharing, these homemade Nacho Fries are just as tasty as the original and ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

For the Fries:

1 lb frozen crispy fries (such as Ore-Ida or your preferred brand)

Vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Seasoning:

2 teaspoons paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

For the Cheese Sauce:

8 oz American cheese slices

½ cup whole milk

1 tablespoon jalapeño juice (from a jar of jalapeños, optional for extra spice)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Seasoning Mix: In a small bowl, combine paprika, salt, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir well to combine.
  2. Fry the Fries: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry the frozen fries in batches for 6-8 minutes or until golden and crispy. Remove and drain excess oil on paper towels.
  3. Season the Fries: While the fries are still hot, sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over them and toss to coat.
  4. Make the Cheese Sauce: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine American cheese slices, whole milk, and jalapeño juice (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth and melted.
  5. Serve: Arrange the seasoned fries on a plate and serve with the warm cheese sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add more cayenne pepper or finely chopped fresh jalapeños to the cheese sauce.
  • If you prefer baked fries, follow the baking instructions on the frozen fries package and then season them as directed.
  • Store leftover cheese sauce in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat before serving.
