Description
Watermelon Lemonade is a refreshing, vibrant summer drink that combines the sweetness of watermelon with the tart zing of lemon and lime. It’s simple to make, naturally sweet, and perfect for hot days.
Ingredients
5 to 6 cups seedless watermelon, cut into 1–2 inch cubes
2 cups ice cold water
⅓ cup granulated sugar
½ cup lemon juice (about 4 large lemons)
2 tablespoons lime juice (about 1 large lime)
2 tablespoons agave nectar (optional; honey or maple syrup can also be used)
Fresh mint leaves, watermelon slices, lemon or lime slices for optional garnishes
Instructions
- Blend the watermelon, ice-cold water, and granulated sugar in a blender until smooth. Use the smoothie setting for the best results.
- Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove any pulp or seeds. Use the back of a spoon to press the juice through the strainer.
- Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice, lime juice, and agave nectar (or your sweetener of choice). Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
- Serve the Watermelon Lemonade over ice, garnishing with fresh mint, watermelon slices, and lemon or lime slices.
Notes
- For a fizzy version, replace half of the water with sparkling water or club soda.
- For more citrusy tang, increase the lime juice.
- If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the sugar or sweetener, and adjust the lemon and lime for a more tart flavor.
- For a cold and refreshing twist, use frozen watermelon cubes instead of regular ice cubes.
